Thanks to a marine reporting from on-base, sounds like the fire’s out at the SE back gate of Camp Pendelton (San Luis Rey). Amazing, a new fire and Oceanside FD and the Marines (including 4 Marine firefighting choppers) maul it quickly together as a team and knock it down like nobody’s business. Are you listening, Calfire? Now if Calfire would just figure out how to take their heads out of their red tape and allow the Marines to help in the other fire fighting efforts.
…maybe Calfire wants most of this brush/fuel to burn… or maybe they’re paying out too much cash to private firefighting companies who they’re cozy with and don’t want the Marines to come in and either make them look bad or take away the business from these friends…. follow the money — (stupid politicians)
